Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 143:1-12. Verse 10, what if God has already, for a long time, been teaching me to do his will, and this is the day for me to just step up and DO IT? Action point?
II Chronicles 4:1-22. Solomon’s lavish outlay of gold for the temple. What precious things, spiritual and material, have I been holding in reserve for just the right time? Could that time be today?
Philippians 3:1-11. Paul throws away his resume in order to know Jesus better, share in his sufferings, and attain the resurrection. What would it look like for me to start living this way?
Luke 18:24-30. Related, Jesus urges Peter to make the same decision (which he did). What has it cost me so far to follow Jesus Christ? What if the price gets steeper? Do I have a limit?
