Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 105:1-45. Verse 4, how is seeking God’s face different from seeking his help, his protection, his guidance, or his approval? How shall I go about seeking God’s face during the hours of this day?
II Chronicles 1:1-17. Verses 7-12, related, God is pleased when Solomon prays, not for “stuff,” but to be made more godlike. What’s the lesson in this for me today?
Philippians 2:1-11. Related again, Paul urges that we seek to become more selfless and Christlike in our relationships, our devotion, and our goals. How am I doing in 2023 compared to 2022?
Luke 18:9-14. Related yet again, if I could learn to measure myself not against my neighbor but against Jesus, how would others begin to notice?
