Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 22:1-31. Verses 2 and 24, when have I felt torn between doubting God and trusting him? What did I learn? How can I daily exercise my “faith muscle” so it gets strong for the testing times?
II Chronicles 16:1-14. King Asa’s good reign falters at the end. What assignment has God given me that calls for “a long obedience in the same direction” (Eugene Peterson)? What vital choice do I face even today?
Malachi 1:1-8. Verses 7 and 8, honestly don’t I sometimes give God what is easy and convenient—from my time, talent, or treasure—instead of giving my very best in a way that highly honors him?
Luke 20:41-44. David anciently foresaw King Jesus at the Father’s right hand. What does my King specifically require me to be doing today? What gracious provision has he made for me today?
