Bible Sunday 12/31: The King in Disguise

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 149:1-9. Verse 6, what sword is God calling on me to carry and use In his name today?

Jonah 4:1-11. Jonah’s self-pity and self-righteousness. When have I been tempted to think I know better than God?

Revelation 22:1-21. Verse 2, God’s tree of life with its leaves for the healing of the nations. When such healing seems impossibly remote right now, what small part can I play?

Matthew 25:31-46. Verses 40 and 45, the least of these. Reviewing 2023, what was one time I met this challenge for Jesus? One time I failed him? Looking to 2024, what’s one practical thing I can do better?
