Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 143:1-12. Verse 10, in asking God to teach me, what are some qualities of teachableness that I owe him? What are some behaviors by which the pupil can meet the teacher halfway?
Exodus 21:1-36. Moses, still under God’s dictation, begins setting forth a detailed criminal code. Does this reflect a more conservative or more liberal world-view? Could it be considered pro-life?
I Peter 4:12-19. When have I been in any degree a partaker of Christ’s suffering? What could await me if present trends continue? How shall I prepare?
John 5:16-30. Compared with simple monotheists or unitarians, how am I more blessed in knowing God as both the Father and the Son? Application for today?
