Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 50:1-23. Verses 8-14, God tells Israel the ancient sacrificial worship is not enough. When has God brought me up short with the warning that he wants more of me, all of me? Present application?
Leviticus 3:1-17. More of God’s instructions on how to follow Moses. Is there anything here, if not an activity then at least an attitude, that can help me to better follow Jesus?
Acts 1:15-26. Verse 15, over a hundred close disciples of the risen Lord Jesus, whose names we’ll never know. Verse 23, Barsabas Justus, the one not chosen to fill Judas’ place. When I’m long forgotten, why will it matter if I kept the faith today?
John 15:1-8. Verse 2, what purging have I received from God, or must I expect to receive, to make me more spiritually fruitful as a branch of Jesus’ vine. What fruit can I bear for him today?
