Bible Monday 8/14: The Hungry Soul

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 107:1-43. Verses 5-9, when has God rescued me from extreme hunger and thirst? Present application?

Joshua 8:1-35. Joshua’s shrewd strategy conquers Ai. What capability, not natural to me, do I need to have God provide me right now, in order that I may succeed to his glory?

Acts 25:1-12. Paul appeals to Caesar for justice in the charges against him. What lies do the worldly powers allege against me and other Christians? Is God best served by my vindication or my martyrdom?

Mark 14:66-72. Peter’s three denials. When have I missed an important moment to witness for Jesus? When have I seized such a moment? Am I ready if today is the day?
