Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 5:1-12. Verses 4-8, in that God hates wickedness and iniquity, what attitudes and actions does he expect from me today? What if this is outside my comfort zone?
Judges 3:1-31. Ehud slays the tyrant, invoking God’s name. What responsibility does my church have to instruct believers in the doctrines of political right and just war? My role?
II Corinthians 4:16-5:11. Verses 16 and 17, in my experience, what’s actually involved in this process of God renewing my inward selfhood day by day? Is it really only a light affliction, momentary? Is the prize worth the price?
Luke 6:12-16. If Jesus was really God incarnate, why did he need to pray—and indeed, pray all night? Action point for me today?
