Bible Sunday 9/24: Hand to the Plow

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 107:1-43. Verses 10 and 14, what darkness, what bondage, what shadow of death do I need God to deliver me from today? What would that deliverance look like?

Amos 7:1-17. Verse 8, Israel to be measured by God’s plumbline. How has the abandonment of standards impacted my community? What is my church doing about it?

Galatians 2:11-21. Verse 20, is the sinner’s experience of being crucified with Christ and living anew in him, a one-time event or an ongoing process? If the latter, what is my cross for today?

Luke 9:57-62. What excuses have I been making to Jesus lately? Action point for today?
