Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 66:1-20. Verse 16, what exactly has God done for my soul? To whom shall I declare and make it known today?
I Chronicles 2:1-55. Genealogy of God’s people from Jacob to David. How would life be different if I learned to value everyone I meet as highly as the Lord values them—putting their names on record for 1000 years?
Amos 9:1-7. The prophet warns Israel of God’s fearsome judgment. If Amos showed up at my church to preach this Sunday, what might he say and do? What would he probably not say or do?
Luke 10:13-24. Verses 13-15, related question, if Jesus took stock of America today, to what centers of power and prestige might he say, “Repent or hell awaits you”? What is my church doing about this?
