Bible Wednesday 12/11: On Calvary

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 105:1-45. How does Israel’s exodus from Egyptian slavery into the Promised Land furnish a pattern for my long walk with God through this life?

Isaiah 46:1-13. Verses 3 and 4, 9 and 10, when I say that God is Lord of history—not just the history of nations, but also that of each person—how does that quell my worries about this day, this month?

Revelation 17:1-6. Babylon, the capital city of sin, evil, lust, and bloodshed. Why does God permit this great whore to stand for even a single day? What protects me from finding her both fascinating and terrifying?

Luke 23:26-34. What’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to forgive? Shall I ask Jesus into the middle of that situation today?
