Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:89-128. Verses 101, 104, 113, 128, hate every false way. Is my understanding of God and Christ too “nice” for such a vow? What are some examples of false ways I should hate and resist today?
Jeremiah 17:1-27. Verse 9, related, wickedness of the human heart. Is my church alert to this, or more aligned with “follow your heart” and “you do you”? How would I explain this to a teenager?
Romans 6:15-23. Related again, suppose the teenager insisted that serving sin or serving God weren’t his only choices in this world? Could I from my own testimony make the case?
Matthew 14:22-36. Verse 31, thou of little faith. What doubts and fears of mine have recently caused disappointment for Jesus?
