Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 19:1-14. Verse 14, what are some words or thoughts of mine from yesterday that weren’t acceptable to God? What are the consequences when I let that happen? How can I do better today?
Jeremiah 36:1-32. The king burns up God’s warnings to him. By what means do today’s earthly rulers seek to silence the word of the Lord? What is my church doing about it?
Romans 15:1-6. What opportunities will Jesus offer me on this day, to put others first and put myself second?
Matthew 19:16-30. Related, if the grace of Jesus Christ proves quite costly to my personal comfort, do I still want it? Or am I really interested only in cheap grace?
