Bible Tuesday 3/12: Commitment

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 31:1-24. Verse 5, what’s actually involved in committing my spirit to God on a daily or even hourly basis? How shall I expect my day to be different or better as a result?

Jeremiah 39:1-18. Verse 17, but I will deliver you. What difficult and daunting issue am I facing right now, where the game-changing words “But God” are needed to turn things around?

II Thessalonians 2:1-12. Verse 2, related, be not shaken or troubled. How do current world events, or my own situation, match the grim picture Paul paints here? Why do I have calm assurance in Christ even so?

Matthew 24:15-28. Another grim picture. What are some present-day examples of false Christs (verse 24)? By what authority and proof does the one true Christ show up all the others as fakes?
