Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 84:1-12. Verse 10, this thousand-fold investment in God, how does it work exactly? What have I put off doing for my church, because it seemed beneath me? How have I been thoughtlessly tenting with the wicked?
Leviticus 17:1-16. Moses and Aaron warn the Israelites to stop neglecting God. Have I in any way been guilty of this?
Acts 5:22-42. Verse 40, beaten by the Jews for proclaiming Jesus, the apostles gratefully rejoice. What comparable risk (or one-tenth as comparable) can I take for Jesus right here in my hometown?
John 19:31-42. Verse 39, Nicodemus, formerly unsure of Jesus, now fearlessly commits to help bury him. Who do I know that is on that gradual path of Nicodemus and needs my encouragement for the next step?
