Bible Monday 6/24: The Servant Heart

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 131:1-3. What opportunity can I find to express more meekness today than I did yesterday? Why is this pleasing to God?

I Samuel 10:1-27. Verse 22, related, Saul hides as coronation awaits. How does timidity differ from meekness? When have I shied from doing what God requires of me? Present application?

Luke 1 :5-25. Verse 17, preparatory mission of John the Baptist. What does this work look like for me and my church today, now that Christ and the Holy Spirit have both come? How are we doing?

Luke 1:57-80. Verse 75, on this day, specifically and practically, what does serving God in holiness look like for me? What does serving God in righteousness look like for me?
