Bible Thursday 7/18: There is a River

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 46:1-11. Verse 10, how can I establish stillness of heart and closeness to God right now, and maintain it all day long today, regardless of external conditions?

2 Samuel 3:1-39. Strife among David’s men, cycles of violence and revenge. What’s the toughest task of forgiveness I’m facing right now? How can I obtain God’s help with this?

Acts 23:23-35. Roman law safeguards Paul, albeit his ultimate allegiance is to God, not Caesar. How is my dual citizenship in both earth and heaven being tested in this political year?

Mark 10:13-16. What childlike qualities does Jesus want me to express today?
