Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 65:1-13. Verse 4, God causes me to approach him. What does that involve for me at this moment and all day today? What attitudes and actions are required of me as I approach? What must I beware of?
II Samuel 9:1-13. David’s merciful kindness to Jonathan’s lame son, Mephibosheth. To whom can I be a kindly ambassador of God’s love today?
Acts 26:19-32. Verse 28, related, do I know someone who is at the “almost” point in yielding to Jesus Christ, and for whom one further word of witness from me might make all the difference?
Mark 11:1-11. An adoring crowd welcomes Jesus into Jerusalem, only days before he is crucified. Have I counted the cost of claiming to love Christ? How shall I prepare for worsening persecution soon to come?
