Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 78:41-72. Verse 41, in struggling with current needs, have I been limiting God? How shall I correct that, starting today?
II Samuel 17:1-29. A double agent misleads Absalom and helps save David. When have I seen God arrange human circumstances in a divine way, for my benefit and his glory?
Colossians 2:16-3:11. Verses 9 and 10, looking at the way I think and act now, compared with a few years ago, what’s a specific example of my having put off the old man and put on the new, renewed in God’s image? What’s the next step?
Mark 12:35-40. The common people gladly hear Jesus teach that Christ is Lord. Why is there more joy in this than in politics or economics? Who needs to hear this gospel from me today?
