Bible Tuesday 8/6: Transfigured

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 27:1-14. Verse 3, spiritually understood, what army is moving to make war on me today? How am I able, with God, to face them confident and unafraid?

II Samuel 22:1-51. Verse 20, what does God see in me that delights him? Me!?! Verse 36, how does his gentleness make me great? (Again, mistaken identity suspected.)

II Peter 1:12-21. How do I gain assurance and authority for the demands of today, from knowing that the Lordship of Jesus Christ is a witnessed fact, not an invented fable?

Matthew 17:1-13. What Christlike qualities did Jesus see in Peter, James, and John that fitted them to be with him on the Mount of Transfiguration? For which of those qualities in particular shall I pray God today?
