Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 143:1-12. Verse 10, if my main goal all day today is letting God teach me to do his will, how would others notice?
I Kings 20:1-43. Verse 28, our God reigns in the valleys no less than in the hills. Have I been placing limits on God, such as to block my receptivity to the blessings he has for me?
Job 12:1-25. Job once again avows his humble 100% submission to God’s will. Have I been telling myself that 95% submission is probably good enough?
Luke 4:16-30. Jesus preaches in his home synagogue and provokes a violent backlash. As with the three previous questions, haven’t I sometimes recently said to Jesus “yes but” instead of “yes amen”?
