Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 18:1-50. Verses 16-19, God’s active, attentive concern with my circumstances and needs as one unique person, not simply part of a collective. How does that speak to me personally, here and now?
II Kings 7:1-20. An illusory threat, staged by God as Elisha foretold, scares away the enemy and saves the city. Verse 2, do I take my stand today with the skeptical nobleman or the faithful prophet?
Job 20:1-11. Wickedness won’t triumph for long. If I believe this declaration from God’s word, how will my attitudes and actions show it today?
Luke 6:20-26. What risks and what costs am I taking on in everyday life for Jesus’ sake? Time to take it up a notch?
