Bible Wednesday 9/4: Naaman the Proud

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 16:1-11. The daily choice I must make between chasing false gods or serving the one true God. What does this look like for me in practical terms as I go about my day today?

II Kings 5:1-27. Naaman, Syria’s commanding general, is healed of leprosy by Elisha. Verses 11-13, how do pride, arrogance, and self-will tend to obstruct the good things God intends for me?

Job 18:1-21. Bildad decides Job must be cut down to size. When have I sanctimoniously preached to others instead of meekly humbling myself before God?

Luke 6:1-11. Do I take the sabbath less seriously than Jesus did? What entitles me to do that?
