Bible Sunday 9/15: Cruising the Mall

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 41:1-13. What does God want me to do today to comfort and relieve the poor?

II Kings 16:1-20. Ahaz the king and Urijah the priest lead a political takeover of Judah’s religious obligations to God. Is the USA undergoing something like that right now? What is my church doing about it?

Job 24:13-25. Calling out the misdeeds of those who rebel against the light. Has this become so commonplace in today’s world that I’m somewhat indifferent to it? Is that acceptable to God?

Luke 7:24-35. Verse 32, childish mood swings of those for whom honoring God isn’t a way of life but simply a pose. Do I sometimes approach Jesus and the kingdom in this way?
