Bible Thursday 2/6: Joseph Brought Low

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 90:1-17. Verse 12, if I let God teach me to number my days, how will that make me more effective in loving God and loving my neighbor?

Genesis 37:1-36. Joseph’s brothers sell him into Egypt as a slave. When have I gotten above myself and made things all about me when they should have been all about others—and God? What did I learn?

Hebrews 13:1-25. Verses 12-14, what would it look like today if my boldness in following Jesus made worldly people see me as an outsider?

Matthew 14:1-12. How did we get to the point where there are few Christian leaders—if any—who will uphold God’s standard of righteousness against sin and wickedness in high places?
