Bible Thursday 4/24: Jesus for Real

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 123:1-4. If I fix my eyes on Jesus more faithfully today than yesterday, how will things be different—for myself and for the people around me?

Exodus 5:1-23. Rebuffing Moses, Pharaoh is more harsh than ever to the Israelites. Today how shall I prepare for the possibility that in serving God things may get worse for me before they get better?

I Corinthians 15:12-19. Thinking back on yesterday, what secondary things did I allow to distract me from the primary thing—Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected? How was I, as a result, a most miserable person?

Luke 24:36-53. Verse 48, what is the next thing Jesus expects of me as a witness to his saving work, beyond what I’m already doing?
