Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 144:1-15. Verse 15, happy is that people. How do the struggle and strife in my community result from forgetting God? What is my church doing about it?
Exodus 11:1-10. Moses voices God’s warning of the death of all Egypt’s firstborn. How does the self-destructive fanaticism of Pharaoh persist in today’s world? How can I protect myself from it?
I Peter 2:1-10. Verses 5 and 9, what special call has Jesus placed on me, my family, and our fellow Christians, looking no further than a 10-mile radius from where I’m sitting right now? What are we to DO, starting today?
John 3:1-13. Related, in making me be born again, what birth certificate of rights and duties has Jesus stamped upon me? How will others notice—as soon as today?
