Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 80:1-19. Verse 4, what have I been struggling with, almost to the point of exhaustion, and asking God, “How long?” How can I find in Him the strength to keep on, the faith to persevere?
Proverbs 29:1-27. Verse 2, by what qualities can I tell if those in authority are righteous or wicked? What is my church doing about it?
Deuteronomy 6:1-9. Reviewing my thoughts, words, and actions of yesterday, where did I fall short of loving God with my whole being? What was the consequence? What’s one way I can do better today?
Matthew 22:34-40. With a similar review, where did I flunk an easy test yesterday of loving my neighbor as myself? What flimsy rationalization did I use to justify the selfishness?
