Bible Tuesday 9/13: Craving the Inner Ring

Psalm 62;1-12. In all my doings, especially politics, how can I avoid being misled today by the false dichotomy between persons of high degree and low (verse 9 KJV)? By remembering that all power is God's alone (verse 11).

Job 20:1-29. Toward what villains in my world, or our wider world, can I direct the calm confidence here expressed in God's ultimate justice and victory?

Ephesians 5:1-14. Where am I in any fellowship with the works of darkness? Where must I be more spiritually awake (verses 11, 14)?

Luke 7:24-35. Is the worldly sophistication that scorned both John the Baptist and Jesus (called by CS Lewis somewhere, I think in "Screwtape," the lust for the inner ring) operating anywhere in me today?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the  St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Where is your self-examination leading today?
