Bible Sunday 1/21: Sanctified

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 63:1-11. Verse 6, is my prayer life anchored at these two ancient touchpoints of bedtime and wakening? Why does it matter?

Deuteronomy 24:1-22. Verse 1, swift and arbitrary divorce. Why did Jesus overrule this, with the church following suit until recently? Is current Christian practice pleasing to God?

Hebrews 10:1-10. Verse 5, this writer sees Jesus in Psalm 40. Earlier, in 1:5 he saw him in Psalm 2,  1:8 in Psalm 45, 2:6 in Psalm 8, 6:20 in Psalm 110, etc. How can I get better at seeing Jesus in the Psalms? Why does it matter?

Matthew 7:13-23. Verse 22, how does this fall short of doing the will of our Father in heaven, of being a tree with good fruit? What else is Jesus asking of me here?
