Bible Thursday 10/25: Michael at War

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 37:1-40. Verse 24, where do I feel defeated, blocked, out of options, right now? What little encouragement or glimmer of hope shall I ask God for today?

Nehemiah 12:1-47. Verse 27, dedication of the wall. What’s involved in dedicating to God my church building, my house, my workplace? What exactly do I do? What does he do in return?

Jude 1:1-25. Verse 9, Michael the archangel warring with the devil. What is he to me? Verse 23, who needs to feel my fearless compassion today in pulling them out of the fire?

Luke 9:51-56. Suggested by this story though not defined by it, what does Jesus think of religious freedom? Does he honor the right of conscience? Or has untruth no rights?
