Bible Tuesday 11/20: Businessman and Beggar

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 94:1-23. Verse 12 KJV, what chastening has God given me this year? How did it bless me? How can I thank him?

Isaiah 25:1-12. Verse 8, written 2500 years ago, how is this promise any closer to fulfillment? What use is it to victims of fire in California, hurricane in Florida, or rockets in Israel?

Revelation 1:9-20. Verse 20, churches likened to candlesticks, each with its own angel. What is God’s angel saying to my church? How can my church shed more light? My role in that?

Luke 16:19-31. What child of God in desperate need, perhaps on my very doorstep, am I overdue in noticing at this season? Do I and my church take heaven and hell seriously enough?
