Bible Thursday 9/20: Abound

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 71:1-24. Verses 17 and 18, is my view of youth and aging in line with God’s view? What needs adjusting? Application for today?

Job 27:1-23. Verse 8 foresees Jesus’ warning in Matthew 16:26. When have I made or considered such a devil’s bargain? Why is the fate of one’s soul generally ignored in today’s world?

II Corinthians 9:1-15. Verse 8, what specific act of kindness and generosity would I do today if money were no object? Trusting God’s sufficiency, what first step can I take, money or not?

Mark 16:9-20. Verses 17 and 18, five “signs following” for disciples of the risen Christ. Do I believe in these? With what evidence? How can I participate more in fulfilling this promise?
