Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 37:1-40. Verses 9 and 11, “inherit the earth.” What does this sweeping promise, later renewed by Jesus, practically mean for me in 2019? By what thoughts and actions do I qualify for it?
Genesis 24:1-67. Verses 48-52, “whom God has joined together.” Does my church take a more active or passive approach to marriage as a divinely ordained provision for humankind?
Hebrews 12:3-11. What fatherly chastening has God put me through? How did it profit me in holiness and righteousness?
Matthew 7:21-29. If the words and actions in verses 21 and 22 aren’t enough for Jesus, what is? What sayings of his (verse 24) must I obey to build on rock?
