Bible Tuesday 12/3: Reason for the Season

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 85:1-13. Verse 10, perfect balance of God’s contrasting attributes. Which of these is most developed in me, and which needs the most development? Action point for Advent and Christmas?

Esther 4:1-17. Verse 14, courage called for: “Such a time as this.” Verse 16, courage offered: “If I perish, I perish.” How is God calling me to live out this kind of radical witness right now?

Revelation 11:1-14. Verse 8, city where our Lord was crucified. What are the forces in my community crying, “Dethrone Jesus, silence Jesus, kill Jesus”? What’s my response?

Luke 20:41-47. Jesus shows how Psalm 110:1 foretells him as Messiah. How can I and my family and my church put Christ the Lord at the center this month more boldly than ever before?
