Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 1:1-6. Verse 3, what would this flourishing of God’s faithful ones, expressed in unselfish ways, look like for me in the year ahead?
Deuteronomy 1:1-46. Verses 34-38, what mission of God against worldly doubts, against the odds, awaits me and my church to carry out in the spirit of Caleb and Joshua?
Ephesians 1:3-14. Verse 5, as an adopted child of God through Christ, what opportunities and obligations are now mine that don’t appear when I look in the mirror or review my life story? Action point?
Matthew 3:1-12. Verses 10-12, Jesus brings fire to destroy the evil and refine the good. How, if at all, is this playing out in my present experience?
