Bible Tuesday 1/21: Thou Hypocrite

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 22, what burden is weighing me down right now, that God will take on his shoulders if I ask him?

Deuteronomy 21:1-23. Verse 11, marriage by capture. Verse 15, plural marriage. Verse 18, death to a rebellious son. What’s my own best understanding of whether or not to uphold a problematic biblical rule?

Hebrews 10:11-18. Finality of Christ’s atonement. What opportunity and obligation does this present for me to act upon today?

Matthew 7:1-6. Verse 5, what has offended me in recent news, gossip, or personal experience that can be an occasion for the self-criticism Jesus commands here?
