Bible Tuesday 1/28: Hitherto

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 71:1-24. Verses 5-9, with my youth giving way to age, in whatever degree so far, how have I come to know God better? How have I come to need him more?

Deuteronomy 28:1-68. Verse 68, Israel risks a return to Egyptian bondage. When have I come full circle back to a previous low point, by my own disregard of God? Lesson for today?

Hebrews 11:30-40. Compiling a similar list of heroism and hardships for Christ’s faithful ones in these times, what would I call out? What is my church doing for the persecuted church abroad?

Matthew 8:23-27. When has it seemed Jesus was asleep while I was in desperation? Why didn’t he show up sooner? Present application?
