Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 74:1-23. Verse 1, what grounds does God have for anger at our country, my church, and me? Verse 22, what would it look like for God to rise up and correct us beneficially, vindicating himself?
Deuteronomy 29:1-29. Verse 18, root of bitterness. What weeds in my heart do I need to get rid of today, by God’s help, before they spread and choke out all else?
Hebrews 12:1-11. Verse 1, if the Christian life is like running a race, what are some of the qualities it requires of me? How did Jesus model those for me?
Matthew 8:28-34. Why is devil-possession so little thought of today? What’s the consequence? What’s my church doing about it?
