Bible Thursday 4/30: Happy in God

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 144:1-15. Verses 11-15, what it looks like to be happy in God. If our Father intends to bring me and mine through the pandemic better than ever, what would that involve? Do I need to be praying bigger prayers?

Ezekiel 20:1-49. Verses 17 and 22 KJV, nevertheless. When has God patiently given me another chance, and another, that I didn’t deserve? What does that say about his mercy awaiting us in this crisis?

I Corinthians 15:29-34. Verse 32, tomorrow we die, so what? Facing Covid, is the worldly mind displaying more such stoicism or more terror of death? What do I, secure in resurrection hope, have to offer my neighbors right now?

John 5:36-47. Verse 44 KJV, seek the honor God alone can give. What attitudes and actions does this require of me today? How does it relate to searching the Scriptures for Jesus (verse 39)?
