Bible Wednesday 4/22: I Must Decrease

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:129-176. Verse 164, how many times yesterday did I honestly pause, put all else aside, and seek God? By what specific resolve can I do better today? Or does it matter, since we’re told “prayers don’t expire”?

Ezekiel 12:1-28. Verses 22-25, God warns Israel their time is short. If told that I (or all of us) had only weeks remaining in this life, what would I start doing differently? Why not begin now and make those changes anyway?

I Peter 3:13-22. Verse 15, if I’m out for a walk today and a neighbor asks me why this pandemic doesn’t make me doubt God, what would I say to them in a minute or two, toward a longer conversation later?

John 3:22-36. Verse 30, if my attention began to focus more and more on Jesus Christ, and less and less on myself, how would others (even if I never talked to them) notice the difference?
