Bible Thursday 4/16: Tried with Fire

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 109:1-31. Verses 2 and 3, what wickedness, deceit, lies, and hate are rampant during this pandemic? How does God defeat these with his goodness, truth, and love?

Ezekiel 6:1-14. Verse 9, how does the charge of spiritual adultery, spiritual prostitution, ring true against God’s people even now? What are the consequences? The remedy?

I Peter 1:1-12. Verses 3-9, how can my priceless inheritance from the risen Christ relieve the economic anxiety of Covid? How is the crisis forging my faith like gold in a fire?

John 20:11-18. Verses 15 and 16, what difference will it make in my day to realize that Jesus at this very moment knows me by name and enters into my troubles?
