Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 126:1-6. Verses 5 and 6, what spiritual seed have I sown, perhaps with tears, during this difficult year so far? What harvest do I expect to reap, and when? Action point for today?
I Samuel 22:1-23. Doeg of Edom, informer and murderer. When have I known such a wretchedly bad person? Where is God in the life of such a one, who only gets worse and worse? Lesson for me?
Acts 7:54-8:3. Verse 60, Dying, Stephen forgives. When have I had occasion to ask for, or to bestow, a great act of forgiveness? What did I learn? Present application? Verse 1, what must have been the impact of all this on Saul (later Paul)?
Mark 3:20-30. During the pandemic and the protests, in my immediate experience (not the news from afar), what evidence have I seen of Satan at work? Of the Holy Spirit at work? Who seems to be winning?
