Bible Monday 7/27: Go on Record

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 66:1-20. Verse 16 KJV, if a nonbeliever sincerely asked what God has done for my soul, what brief conversational answer would I give? Whom do I know that might be ready to hear exactly that?

I Kings 1:1-53. King David, helped by his loyalists, confirms Solomon to succeed him. Why does God prize the quality of loyalty, humanly and spiritually, in us as his people?

Acts 17:16-21. Verse 21, in modern America, as in ancient Athens, what are the consequences of overvaluing novelty, innovation, imagination, and creativity for their own sake? How does this infect even the church?

Mark 11:1-11. Verse 10, in modern America, as in ancient Jerusalem, what are the consequences of mistakenly placing magical earthly expectations on Jesus? When have I done this?
