Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 68:1-35. Verses 5 and 6, how can my church do more, both materially and spiritually, for those near us who are marginalized, destitute, or oppressed? My role?
II Samuel 23:1-39. Honor roll of David’s mighty men. Who are some individuals in my church that are mighty for the kingdom of God and the cross of Christ? How can I specifically work and pray to be more like them?
Acts 16:25-40. Paul saves the jailer from suicide, then saves his soul. Do I know someone, or some group, that believes life is scarcely worth living, and to whom I can present the Gospel?
Mark 10:32-45. Ego trip of the Zebedee brothers. What is there about me that makes Jesus frown as he sees too little self-abasement and too much self-importance? Action point?
