Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 79:1-13. Verse 13, what are some qualities of a sheep that make me pleasing to God? And some qualities that try his patience?
I Kings 4:1-43. Solomon’s trusted officers and the glories of his kingdom. What are my church and my family and I investing in for God that will endure centuries from now, when America’s glory is but a page in a book?
Acts 18:12-23. What was the source of Paul’s tireless evangelism and his resilience under adversity? If granted a measure of that from God, what new service could I render to Jesus in coming months and years?
Mark 11:27-33. Pharisees unable to trap Jesus. Whom am I arguing with, what am I arguing about—aloud or inwardly—that merely distracts from my kingdom obligations and opportunities? Action point?
