Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 46:1-11. Verses 2-4, how does the symbolism of a roaring sea and a glad river play out in my life at present? What is God telling me here?
Job 24:1-25. Job’s catalog of human cruelty. What aspects of this are occurring within a mile of where I live? What is my church doing about it? My role?
II Corinthians 2:12-17. Verse 14, when someone triumphs in Christ, what does that look like in everyday terms? Where does hardship come in? Is Jesus pleased with me according to this standard?
Luke 8:1-10. Verse 10, what has Jesus taught me about the mysteries of the kingdom of God? How can that make a difference in my day? How can I use it to bless others?
