Bible Sunday 11/14: Letter to My Church

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 37:1-40. Verse 4, what’s one desire of my heart that I pray God will grant me today? What unworthy desire of my heart shall I ask him to remove and give me a worthy desire in its place?

II Chronicles 23:1-21. Jehoiada the warrior priest crowns Joash as boy king. What role is there for a warrior priest in the political and spiritual chaos of our times?

Revelation 3:1-13. If Jesus were to write a letter to my church, what would he tell us by way of commendation, correction, rebuke, or warning? How alert are we to those things, and what are we doing about them?

Luke 21:29-38. Verse 36, related, what steps can I take, starting today, to be more watchful and more prayerful as Jesus commands?
