Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 104:1-35. Verse 15, do I take three meals a day for granted? Even in saying grace, is it by rote? What’s the lesson in my needing to eat often and God never needing to at all?
Genesis 41:1-57. Joseph is freed and made Pharoah’s vice-regent. When have I seen God orchestrate persons and circumstances in a way that seemed impossible? Application to my present needs?
Romans 2:17-29. Verse 29, when has God done this kind of spiritual surgery on my heart? What changes did it bring about in my attitudes and actions that others could notice? Still on track, or not so much?
Matthew 12:15-21. Verse 20, the patience, gentleness, and tenderness of Christ. Where do I most need to show those qualities right now, with God’s help?
