Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 32:1-11. Verse 7 KJV, God as my hiding place. What do I need to hide from right now? Where does courage come into that, an active engagement with life, a joyous embrace of the wide world?
Proverbs 24:1-34. Verse 29, inverse of the Golden Rule. Why does this approach displease God? How common is it for me to take this approach?
Romans 13:8-14. Verses 11-13, how does spiritual sleepiness tend to afflict me and my church? What’s involved for Christians to live in a daytime way, not a nighttime way?
Matthew 21:33-46. Verse 38, in what way am I susceptible to the selfish thought that sees Jesus as an obstacle to what I want to have or do or be? Verse 42, how can I make him my cornerstone today?
